Asian Cup Qatar 2011: China defeat Kuwait in second game

The Asian cup kicked off yesterday with the hosts Qatar losing 2:0 to Uzbekistan. Earlier today saw the second of the group games between a young China and Kuwait.
The game saw Kuwait go down to ten men after Mesad Nada was sent off for a bad looking foul on China’s Yang Xu. China eventually made the extra man count when the deadlock was broken just before the 60 min mark, when Zhang Linpeng scored the opening goal in the 58th minute.
The lead was doubled after Deng Zhouxiang scored with a free kick, and saw China who has an average age of only 24 join Uzbekistan at the top of the group table. Kuwait had previously won the Gulf Cup and the West Asian Championship at the end of last year.
They almost took the lead in the first-half, but Nada’s sending off saw coach Goran Tufegdzic replacing the skillful Naser with defender Fahad Awad. Tomorrow sees games in group B with Japan taking on Jordon, and Saudi Arabia playing Syria.
